Balancing on one leg is hard. Muscular imbalances, locked joints, rushing, forgetting to breathe, and wandering minds all contribute to a wobbly base.
In this workshop, we will use yoga postures, corrective exercise, and self-massage to explore common barriers in standing balancing poses. We’ll start by opening and strengthening the stabilizing muscles in the feet and ankles. Then move up the legs to learn to properly engage balancing muscles in the hips, legs and core.
Students can expect to leave the workshop with:
• A greater understanding of anatomy and how it relates to standing balancing poses in yoga and other physical activities
• Relief from areas of chronic tension and knowledge of self-care techniques
• Proper muscle engagement and other tools to improve balancing poses each time you practice
*Note: No Yoga experience necessary. All props will be provided. Tight clothing is recommended for use with therapy balls.
