Hot Pilates – 45min

Welcome to Hot Pilates Open Door Style!  If you are looking for an efficient and low impact way to get your heart rate going while strengthening and stretching your body from the inside out then this is the class for you.

The goal with our Hot Pilates is class, as with all our classes at Open Door, is to work the body and mind together to stretch and strengthen you from this inside out.  Here we are taking a Classical Pilates mat class and adding the element of heat to add a little more cardiovascular challenge to the practice as well as to bring us into our bodies more efficiently.

Don’t worry, this class is accessible to everyone as it can be tailored to the needs of the student.  The class begins with a grounding warm-up series to reconnect you with your body and breath.  Then we move into the more energetic part of practice to get your heart rate up and muscles working (this does not mean a fast pace).  The focus is on core strengthening, shoulder and hip stabilization and mobilization as wells as cardiovascular challenge. The class wraps up with some dynamic stretching, breathing and savasana.

How hot?  The room will be set at 90-95F with the humidity at 40%.
What do I need to bring with me?  You will either need a yoga towel (or beach towel), water bottle and a sense of adventure and fun!

 


 

Unheated Mat Pilates

Pilates Balance – 1hr – Unheated Room

This Pilates class is for all-levels as it can and will be tailored to the needs of the students.  The goal with this class is to use Classical Pilates to find balance in our bodies between strength and flexibility, to create long lean muscle that is both supportive of our skeletal frames while still allowing fluid movement of the body in day to day life.  This class will exercise the whole person, mind and body, focusing breathing, concentration, control, centering, precision, balanced muscle development, and relaxation.  Pilates is about functional movement exercise…so it may not be fancy, but it will help you find and keep balance to face the world off the mat!
What do you need to bring:  Yoga mat, hand towel, water bottle and work ethic!
